Starting Your Car With...Your Cellphone?

It could be the way everyone starts their cars in the not-too-distant future.

Sara Dodge of Sarasota Springs found a solution to a problem that had frustrated her.

She developed a way to start her car ignition using her cell phone. It allows her to start her car from anywhere.

The high school senior can theoretically start her car from anywhere at any time. All she needs is a phone to call the cell phone in the back of her car. The phone then contacts a switch to turn on the car. It even calls her back to let her know the car has started.

Currently, Sara has a patent pending and is looking to get in touch with cellphone and car companies to share her ideas.

"I'm hoping to contact some car companies and cell phone companies to see if I can actually make it work," she said.

Sarah’s invention is her final project for Saratoga’s pre-engineering program called “Project Lead The Way.”
