The effects of recent hurricanes are still being felt in South Florida with new building codes. Some homes should be able to withstand category three hurricanes without much damage.

No more miniature wind tunnel tests for hurricane effects on housing. When this Florida International University project is completed, six huge fans will produce winds duplicating hurricane winds up to 160 mph.

The wall of wind will test construction techniques and construction material -- the end result being data to shape building codes.
