Brain Exercise
Most parents are encouraged to get their kids off the couch and turn off the video games. But now a new video game designed for parents is helping them exercise…their brains. The new video game from Nintendo, called “Brain Age,” requires basic smarts and quick reflexes. It’s the new techno version of dozens of do-it-yourself memory books that claim to exercise the brain.Recent studies show that brain cells responded to mental stimulation by generating new extensions. Those extensions help the brain process information more quickly.Stimulation can come from puzzles or Sudoku, learning a new language or instrument, or even from conversation.Mental exercise is just part of what's needed for brain fitness.Technology watchers expect not only to see more games like "Brain Age" hit the market, but also to soon see them available on cell phones and Blackberries. To watch the video, please click the play icon in the video box to the right.
