Much of the country has seen snowfall already, and temperatures are starting to plunge. Now's the time to prepare a winter emergency kit to keep in your car in case of an emergency.A winter emergency kit for your car should include: Shovel Ice Scraper Tire chains Bag of sand, salt or kitty litter (this will help your wheels get traction) Charge/booster cable -- in case your battery freezes Flares/reflectors Blankets and extra clothing -- to help you stay warmRemember to bring a charged cell phone with you when you travel. A working cell phone can be the difference between life and death if you become stuck in wintry conditions.
