The American Rivers organization has released its annual list of America's most endangered rivers. The Santa Fe River in New Mexico tops this year's list, mainly due to the main ingredient the river is missing most of the year: water.

Neches River, Texas Kinnickinnic River, Wis. Neuse River, N.C. Lee Creek, Ark. and Okla. Chuitna River, AlaskaThe list is created each year to highlight rivers facing the most uncertain futures rather than those with the worst chronic problems. This year's biggest threats to healthy rivers include agricultural run-off, water-diverting dams, a proposed coal mine and inadequate sewage treatment. To find out more about 2007's most endangered rivers, read the American River press release.
