Inherit The Wind
American Indian land, once though to be worthless, could make millions from the wind that blows across it.Unlike coal and gas, wind energy is clean and renewable. And tribes in the Great Plains have plenty of it, enough to generate 15% of the nation's electricity.

Four years ago, the Rosebud Sioux in South Dakota built the first Indian-owned commercial wind turbine. And there are more on the way. To raise capital, the tribes will sell energy credits representing the amount of carbone dioxide that will not be emitted into the atmosphere because of the turbines. And that's important, because while the tribes have the wind, they don't have the money to develop wind farms themselves.Tribes say wind farms will create profits and jobs for the reservations, and reduce the nation's impact on global warming. To watch the video, please click the play icon in the video box to the right.
